I hope to prove:

- The audience this passage is addressed to is only:

  "the wicked", "the unrighteous" (or the "unsaved")

- The thoughts and ways of the holy/righteous/"saved"

  are the __same__ as the Lord/our God's thoughts and ways.

 

The theological equivalence of verses or phrases is made obvious,

while perhaps measuring up to a similar level of rigor as in mathematics,

by figuring these things out using only common sense.

 

Various Scripture verses discuss the need for

"two or three witnesses" to establish a fact.

Scripture frequently contains pairs or triplets of verses or phrases,

stated "two or three" different ways,

as "two or three witnesses" to their

common/"theologically equivalent" meaning.

 

Example #1: Psalm 19:1

"the heavens declare the glory of God" <- first witness to theological meaning

is theologically equivalent to:

"the firmament showeth his handiwork". <- second witness to theological meaning

 

- "the heavens" <=> "the firmament" <- counterparts

- "declare" <=> "showeth" <- counterparts

- "the glory of God" <=> "his handiwork" <- counterparts

 

Example #2: Psalm 19:2

"Day unto day uttereth speech" <- first witness to theological meaning

is theologically equivalent to:

"night unto night sheweth knowledge". <- second witness to theological meaning

 

- "Day unto day" <=> "night unto night" <- counterparts

- "uttereth" <=> "sheweth" <- counterparts

- "speech" <=> "knowledge" <- counterparts

 

Similarily: Isaiah 55:7 (Amplified Bible)

Substituting, "higher than" <=> "not":

"9 For as the heavens are [not] the earth,

Comparing this rendering with verse 8,

the theological equivalence is now obvious.

 

 

The theological equivalence of Isaiah 55:8-9 is also made obvious

by finding passages which describe in great detail:

- "... your [wicked] ways", "... your [unrighteous] thoughts."

- "My [righteous] ways ...", "My [righteous] thoughts ..."

Galatians 5:19-21, 22-23 is one example.

 

 

Galatians 5:19-21, 22-23 (Amplified Bible)

 

["... your [wicked] ways", "... your [unrighteous] thoughts."]:

19Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are

immorality, impurity, indecency,

20Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper),

party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies),

21Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like.

I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously,

that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

 

["My [righteous] ways ...", "My [righteous] thoughts ..."]:

22But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit

kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness,

Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].

 

 

Substituting, "the doings (practices) of the flesh" and "the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit":

 

"7 Let the wicked forsake his [the doings (practices) of the flesh]

and the unrighteous man his [the doings (practices) of the flesh]; ...

 

"8 For [the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit] are not [the doings (practices) of the flesh],

neither are [the doings (practices) of the flesh] [the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit], says the Lord.

 

"9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so are [the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit] higher than [the doings (practices) of the flesh]

and [the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit] [higher] than [the doings (practices) of the flesh]."

 

 

Substituting, "higher than" <=> "not", verse 9:

 

"9 For as the heavens are [not] the earth,

so are [the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit] [not] [the doings (practices) of the flesh]

Comparing this rendering with the preceding verse 8 rendering,
